The Villians

Vor'athi

There is a lot of mystery that surrounds the origins of Vor'athi and why he became the nightmare he strove to be. Most of what is known about him is known only to the Chosen because of visions and other things that have been left behind for them to find.

Vor'athi was born under tragic circumstances. He was the bastard son of his mother and her lover who was not her husband. Their plan had been for her to run away with the elf who had claimed her as a lover, but her husband caught wind of the couple's plans and put a stop to it just in time for Vor'athi's birth.

Vor'athi Sr., Sythra's husband, hired a kiss of vampires to attack her and prevent her from meeting up with Mathai. He knew that he was no match for the elf because he had never had any talent with magyk and could not have fought the elf. When Sythra was attacked, the stress and damage to her body put her into labor. Vor'athi was born as his mother died and her husband came to collect the child before Mathai knew something was wrong.

Vor'athi Sr. named the child after himself as an insult to Sythra. He knew she hated him as much as he had hated her and knew that if she knew what he had named her child, she would hate him more. Vor'athi Sr. treated the child as little more than a slave to do his bidding and eventually took another wife and had three more children with her: a daughter named Korrin, another son named Vor'athi, and a third son who had been stillborn.

Vor'athi grew to love Korrin more than any other person in his life and eventually he convinced her to marry him. They were met with riddicule because most people believed they were truly brother and sister. Vor'athi killed all who opposed his marriage, and eventually Korrin began to believe them. Before she could hurt him, Vor'athi decided that he would keep her forever by killing her and carrying a vial of her blood with him at all times.

As a form of vengeance against all of those who had caused him pain, Vor'athi began sewing his seed into the virgin fields of the young noble women. He became father to numerous children and denied all realtions when their pregnancies came to light. When he was questioned, he would cast spells to prove his innocence. Many of the women were outcast and Vor'athi watched with pride as their families fell apart.

But it wasn't enough. He wanted more. Vor'athi began attacking villages and killing all of the men and children he could find. He went through three villages before even that wasn't enough and he needed to do something more. He waged war on the people of Catseye, promising that one day he would be in control of them all.

And then, hope. A prophecy delivered from the Fates themselves told of children known only as The Chosen who would be born with the power to defeat him. The key to their abilites lay in the fact that they were his decendents.

Vor'athi refuesed to believe he could be defeated. He tracked down all of his children and their children and killed them with four exceptions. His favorite daughter, Korrin, who became his lover, their daughter, also Korrin, and the two he didn't know about: Sythra and Theia. Little did he know, it would be the children of Sythra and Theia who would bring about his destruction.

Korrin II

Korrin was named for the step-sister that her father had fallen in love with and married. She is the lost sister of Theia and Sythra and was unknown until late in their lives. She was raised by her father and in that caused her to be rather unique by normal standards.

Korrin II stays out of the political spotlight because of Vor'athi's encourragement. He remembered how they had reacted to the thought of his relationship with the woman they believed to be his sister, and he knew they wouldn't understand his relationship with his daughter. Korrin II loved Vor'athi in ways daughters generally didn't love their fathers, and knew that no one would understand it. She gave him a daughter she cherished more tha life itself, and continued to groom Korrin III to complete her father's work even after his unfortunate demise.

Korrin III

The Bane

Korrin III is the daughter of Vor'athi and Korrin II, making her both sister and daughter to the woman who gave birth to her. This has been something of disgust to Korrin III from the time she understood what it truly meant. This hatered of her parents' relationship grew into a hatred of herself and every other person who was considered "normal". Knowing her place in the prophecy, Korrin embraced her role as the Bane and sharpened her craft to stop the Chosen at every chance she could find.

Her confidence in her abilities and knowledge that she was the first line of defense in their fight against her father, encouraged Korrin III to become something more than any of them could imagine. She actively sought them out and engaged them in combat.  She created an appearance she knew would be easily recognizable and cause fear. She developed a cruelty she knew she would one day utilize.

Buril Cunningham

Buril is the last male of the Cunningham line and that knowledge has caused him a substantial amount of fear. In addition to being of royal descent so many generations back that there was hardly a drop of royalty in his veins, Buril knew that something drastic needed to happen to ensure his family survived. Graced only with a daughter whose mother died during childbirth, he knew that there was not going to be any sons in his future.

Already having an afiliation with Vor'athi, the mastermind convinced Buril to inform the king that his daughter would marry the prince...or else. Bacchus, not wanting to cause any waves in the midst of the turmoil already rocking his country to the core, quickly agreed and promised that "The woman of Cunningham blood closest in age to the crowned prince" would be the next queen. Little did either man know, the Cunningham line didn't end with Ioni.

Ioni Cunningham

Ioni is Buril's only child. Unfortunately, she is also the last of the Cunningham line. This, of course, meant that Ioni couldn't pass her family's name on to her children. With no magykal abilities, there would not even be children becoming priests or priestesses on Tur Na Nog with the Cunningham name.

Thus the contract that would control her life was born.

Ioni was raised with the knowledge that she would be the next queen. She was treated as a queen from a very young age and taught how to pretend to have the country's best interests at heart. She was molded and crafted into a perfect pawn... and then she was driven insane by her father's inability to control his urges. Ioni was never anything more than a tool to Buril and he treated her as such. He molested, raped, and abused her to the point where Ioni's only thought was how she could keep him away from her. When her dreams of being queen were shattered by Nikolaos's appearance, Ioni began to fear for her life and did what she could to ensure that at least one prince would marry her, although the only true comfort she found was in the arms of her cousin, Korrin III.
