The Parents

Sythra Ravenwood

Sythra and her sister Theia were abandoned by their mother as infants. When they were born, their mother's husband knew that they were not his children. He told their mother that she would either abandon them, or he would take matters into his own hands. When she refused, he attempted to murder the babies. They survived because of their unique genetic makeup. Horrified by the fact that they had survived, their mother quickly found somewhere else for them to go. They lived with an elderly woman for nearly four years before she died and they were left on the street to figure out how to survive. When Swift came along and took them away, they were eternally grateful to him and would forever see him as their father.

Theia Ravenwood

From an early age, Theia knew she was meant for more than the life she fell into. She was filled with resentment toward her mother for being weak and the woman's husband for forcing their abandonment. She respected Swift for his ability to pull two urchans from the steets and give them a home.

Theia's magykal abilities quickly developed and Swift knew that she and her sister were special very quickly. He took them with him to the school during the months of learning and hoped that they would pick up on the basics before they began their own classes.

When Theia began having visions of the future that foretold disasterious things, Swift began to wonder who the girls really were and what their relationship to Vor'athi truly was. Theia's visions were what informed them of who their father was, and how her sister would die. They also gave them a glimpse of hope when a vision even showed Theia that Nikolaos was capable of bringing both of her parents back to life.

Quaral Ravenwood

Quaral was the son of the Count of Lockshire and always knew that he would one day take over his father's place. He did not know, however, that that day would come so soon after his departure from school. When he started attending school to learn Magecraft, Quaral was the kind of person who would rather hoarse around with his friends than put an effort into studying. When he met Sythra, that changed. Quaral was drawn to her from the beginning. He wanted to be around her and constantly found any excuse to do so. Their realtionship blossomed easily and they motivated each other to finish their schooling as quickly as possible. Sythra tried to push him away, however, when she discovered the truth about her heritage. Quaral refused to leave her side and helped her heal from the discovery. When they finished schooling, he took her home to Lockshire and his father died shortly thereafter, thus elevating Quaral to the position of Count.

Malenon Ravenwood

Like Quaral, Malenon was raised in Lockshire. He was the nephew of the Count and third in line to take over if something should happen. While he was away at school, his father passed away, making him second only to Quaral.

Because of his proximity to Quaral, who was more of a brother than a cousin to the only child, Malenon was able to meet Theia, the love of his life. He courted her for only a few weeks before managing to win her heart and convince her to marry him. Of course, the fact that they could hear each other's thoughts seemed to be more of a deciding factor for Theia's acceptance of his proposal than anything else--a factor that Malenon was not soon to forget.

Malenon did, however, forget virtually everything good about his life after the tragic events that elevated him to the position of Count of Lockshire. One of the consequences of the spell Theia insisted Thyme perform on her, Malenon's memories were sacrificed. He knew that there was something vitally important to his life that was missing, but he could not remember what that was, no matter how hard he tried. His wife became unknown to him, but, more importantly, so did his children.

Luckily, however, Malenon's memories were restored when his wife's soul and body were reunited nearly thirteen years later.

Thyme Nightlock

Thyme was always the dark side of the coin she and her twin sister Rosemary shared. With an affinity and deep respect for the Shadows, Thyme found herself obsessed at an early age. She learned how to use the Shadows without letting herself be consumed by them and used that knowledge to hide Theia's soul inside of her daughter's body. This was an action that caused Thyme a lot of conflict with what she knew was right and what she knew needed to be done. With Somnus to support her, Thyme was able to do what she had thought was impossible and move passed it, though the action caused her to lose her sister.

Adia Wolfe

As a queen of Catseye, Adia was always put in a position where she had to accept the things she wished she could change. Like most mages in the world, she had a gift that went beyond her talents in controlling the elements. She had the gift of Knowing and there were very few things in the world she did not know. This caused her more trouble than it was worth, though and Adia was forced to keep her mouth shut because the world didn't want to know her secrets. However, she was able to use this ability to her advantage more than once. As far as being a queen of Catseye, however, it seemed that she had less power than most of the other women who came before her. Due to her husband's insanity, Adia was often kept away from politics unless she was necessary, which didn't happen often enough for her liking. Her hopes and dreams are to see Catal bring the power back to the throne when he and Nikolaos ascend it.

Somnus Nightlock

Somnus Nightlock met Sythra, Theia, Quaral, Malenon, Thyme, and Rosemarry while he learned his magykal craft at Catseye's one school for magecraft. From a young age, Somnus knew what was happening and when. The moment he met Thyme, he knew that he was going to marry and live a life with her. They settled in Rossini after leaving the school, where they had two children: a son named Rix and daughter Sinead.Somnus was not surprised when Theia appeared on their doorstep and asked for what most would have considered impossible. He and Thyme used their extensive knowledge of Shadow Magyk to place Theia's soul in her daughter's body in an effort to save the lives of Theia, Malenon, Reulo, and Hally.

Bacchus Wolfe

In the beginning, Bacchus was the kind of ruler the world craved: he was honest, kind, and just. He wore a smile at all times and seemed as in love with life as he was his wife. Due to her issues in conception, however, Bacchus was forced by the council to take a mistress. That mistress conceived quickly and shortly after that, Adia also conceived. Bacchus was thrilled that he was going to have so many children grace his life at once, but there was a fear that began to overtake him as well. His family had a curse and he wanted to know if that would eventually damn him.

Bacchus turned to Shadow Magyk to look into his future. The more he wanted to see, the higher the price he needed to pay. Bacchus continued to pay that price and the queen watched in horror as he began to fall into an obsession that would leave her without a son and, in a way, without a husband. Delving into the Shadows cost Bacchus his mind and he quickly fell into an insanity that would give him only small moments of clarity.
